Band Report

”Music is the poetry of the air,” is a beautiful quote given from Richter. Band is the collaboration of  many people who enjoy the same passion, of music. Some might enjoy band and some enjoy all the places you get to go experience, but you have to do hard work . Just because you enjoy band does mean you just love music, but you’re showing pride for your school. On December the 15th, the Middle School Band will have their Christmas Concert. One of the most exciting things they have done this year is play at pep-rallies. Now, the band is working on their Christmas pieces. Mr. Parker said “The huge problem that we have in band now is preparing student for the personal discipline and drive that it takes to be a part of marching band.”  The band has been working hard for the Christmas concert.  The pieces are know well, so when you come you’ll be able sing-along with the music.  Come out on the 15th of December to the middle school band concert.    You can also stay for the High School Band.

Tatum Middle School One Act Play

This year our Tatum Middle School cast and crew  is back again! Our One Act Play team will be traveling to Waskom, TX on Decemeber 6. The cast only has about a few days left until competition. They have been working very hard to master the 30 to 40 minute play. The cast has had rehearsal almost everyday this month. The team has even have rehearsals on Saturday. The rehearsals are closed to the public because there will be a distractions so the cast cankeep focus. Also the cast and crew usually haves 2 months until competition, and this year they only had 7 weeks to prepare before  going to Waskom. Shelby Brown said “We haven’t figured out a date to perform for the school, but we will perform on the 3rd of December for our families only.” The families must be very happy. One act play is just a simple little play that introduces theater to Middle Schoolers. Irias Barrera’s character of the play doesn’t fit her personality because her character is a tad bit more clever then she is and is always trying to figure everybody out. Before One  Act Play is over the cast and crew will  be like second family and we certainly wish them well

The results is Tatum 2nd place out of four schools. Congrates! They also received individual rewards. Lane Sullivan got “Best Actor.” Lois Austin got “Honorable Mention.” Marissa Varner, Jason McBride, and Keyli Curnutt got “All Star Cast.” Wow, great job everyone! The cast and crew will be performing for the school on Tuesday, December 13. Hope you enjoy “The Magic Well.” Just one more congratulation to the following students:

Life Skills ~ San Antonio Trip

Our life skills group went on a trip this summer..To where?.. San Antonio. Yes, I said San Antonio! They left our Tatum Campus May 31st at 8:00 a.m. :O Mrs. Broussard said they didnt sleep the whole way there. I mean, why not, since they had to get up so early. Oh, I know.. It’s because they were too excited to sleep. When the bus finally stopped, they were in Austin at the State Capital! They delivered a letter to the capital!!!! They also got a tour of the WHOLE building. They saw a bunch of amazing artifacts and paintings, the one thing they didn’t get to see was our Texas Governor Rick Perry.   Oh well, they at least got an amazing tour of the capital by one crazy tour guide. They laughed, and giggled at her making her crazy faces, and telling them the history behind the state. Out the door, and on the bus they went. The kids loaded on the bus and went to the Comfort inn and suites in San Antonio, Texas. They said it was a really nice hotel and they very much enjoyed there stay. Once they all got settled in, into their rooms they went for a swim. The kids had a blast, splashing, swimming, and trying to “outdo” one another with there amazing tricks. The pool was an indoor pool. “I’m pretty sure this was there favorite part of the trip.” says Mrs. Broussard. After they all went for a splash they were too exhusted to do anything else, so they went to bed. Rise and shine, they woke up the next morning and got ready. Ater they got dressed, they all went and ate at the breakfast buffet in the hotel. I heard the food was pretty good! After breakfast they went to Morgan’s Wonderland. Morgan’s Wonderland is an amusement park for handicaped kids. But they proved everyone that they are just like evryone else and can have fun just like every other person in this world. The kids said that it was a cool and exciting place to be at.
They said they had LOTS of fun. Mrs. Broussard said that the train ride was everyones favorite ride.! While they were still at Morgan’s Wonderland they had a picnic lunch. It was to hot so they found a place in the shade to sit down and cool off.  Once they got done with there picnic they went on a tour of the Alamo. The Alamo was just like the pictures they saw when they studied the Alamo in Mrs. Broussard’s class. They said there tour guide told them the most amazing story abou the Battle of the Alamo. After they took a tour of the Alamo they ate dinner at the river-walk in San Antonio. They said it was an exciting place to eat ate, there was music playing, people eating, people walking, and shopping all around them. They went on a river boat tour of the river walk in San Antonio. They said that the boat ride was so much fun, but even better since Keith got to go.  Keith served as our captain on the river boat tour! After the river boat tour they went back to the hotel. Some of the kids went back to the room and shut there eyes and fell into a good sleep. The rest went for ANOTHER swim! Once they got done swimming one last time in the beautiful hotel, they went to sleep. Rise and Shine, they woke up on there last day of the trip and ate breakfast. Once they all got there stuff packed and loaded on the bus they went to the San Antonio Zoo. ” It was a gigantic zoo.” says Mrs. Broussard. They saw tons of beautiful creatures and thought they walked a million miles by the time they were done. On the way home they ate at Cracker Barrel n San Marcus, Texas. After, there tummies were full off there lunch, they finally were on there way home from the amazing trip. On there long ride home some fell asleep, and the rest stayed awake.. (Drenched in sweat, Why we may ask? Cause the air conditioning went out.) They said it was a long ride home. but over all they had a Super Fantastic Fun time on there trip to San Antonio, Texas. :D
