Coach Burrow didn’t enjoy social studies when she was in high school, but she had a professor who explained history to her that made her want to know more about it, and that’s what she want for her students. She was born in Alpine,TX and grew up in Atlanta,TX. Coach Burrow went to Atlanta High School, while she was there she spent her time in a rabbit suit! “Go Rabbits”, Coach Burrow. Volleyball was her favorite sport in high school, because she was way taller and able to block the ball. Coach Burrow spends time with her son Kinsler and her husband Mark on her spare time. 7th Grade Building Machines?

The students of Mrs.Moore’s honors science class were given the task of building their very own Rube Goldberg machine!  They had to brainstorm ideas for completeing the task, and at the  same time they had to consider all the supplies they needed.   They had to find supplies  junk drawer/garage etc. in addition to the supplies Mrs. Moore gathered for them.  They were to bring their required parts to  class and were given time to complete  their machine in class and Mrs. Moore stayed several days after school for them to work with their team.  They were all given a total of two weeks to complete the project.  Working together the students completed 7 projects.  They were all very creative!! The students came up with projects such as: dog feeders, automatic toast poppers, a pencil lift, a M & M launcher, a water the plant machine, and a device that pulled the chair up under the table.  The students also had to make sure they included at least 4 moving parts, and at least 3 different types of simple machines. Their design plans had to be labeled and each step had to be clearly defined. If each step worked properly, the machine completed the desired task! . I think all of the projects were  creative and great. I hope to see the next project these students do.  Good luck on the next project guys!!!!

FCA Movie Night – Are you Soul Surfing?

Friday,  January 20th, FCA had their very first movie night in the TMS library. The movie Soul Surfer was chosen because it has a great Christian story behind it. The message behind the story was for us to never give up on something we love and always have faith. A young surfer looses her arm in a shark attack and has to adjust to the new circumstances. Once she realizes that surfing isn’t everything, that God’s love is what is really important, she is able to reach her goals and re-enter the competitive world of surfing and conquers all. When we put God first in everything we do, there’s nothing we aren’t capable of accomplishing.  What a great way to show us how to keep the faith. If she can do it with the condition she had we most definitely can overcome some of our everyday obstacles. Coach Parker is a great sponsor and with her help the Christian athletes can push themselves to live by faith both on and off the court or field.
